I bought a ‘71 Westy and drove it down Highway 1!

I figured it would be much cooler (and cheaper) to buy a baywindow bus to drive around, instead of getting a rental car for a few months. I found this ‘71 tintop Westy with rebuilt motor and brakes, nice original interior and lots of og paint in Santa Rosa (about an hour north of San Francisco), and went to check it out together with my buddy Greg from Vintage Warehouse. That same day I started my trip down to Oceanside, where I was gonna stay with my buddy Neil to visit the Bug-In that weekend. What an amazing trip it was. I took highway 1 all the way through Monterey to San Luis Obispo, one of the most beautiful scenic drives I’ve ever seen! And this bus turned out to be a great buy, in total I drove it about 2000 miles (3200km) with a lot of fun!

The rest of the pictures are in the ‘Cali misc’ folder in the Gallery..

Yosemite National Park.

It was quite a drive from San Francisco, but very much worth it! This park is a beautiful place nature created for us to enjoy! And I did! I hope you will enjoy these pictures just as much:

Finally an update!

As most people know, I’ve been back in Europe for a few weeks now. With all the VW shows and other stuff of the past weeks I haven’t had time to update this blog. However, I still have a lot of cool pics of my travels, both in the US and Europe, so I’m gonna try to get these on here asap!
But first this: My friend Yoo from Thailand made this awesome painting of my ghia, wow!:

Thanks a lot, Yoo! You are very talented!!

San Francisco art

I love art, and San Francisco is full of it.. I went to the De Young museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and a lot of galleries.. The De Young had an awesome Warhol exhibit, but wasn’t allowed to take pictures inthere. At the other places I did take some pics, enjoy!
Persimmon by Robert Rauschenberg, 1964. I love his work!:

2 big pieces by the American Clyfford Still (1904-1980), a leading artist in Abstract Expressionism:

Not the best picture, but this is work by the famous Dutch artist Piet Mondriaan (1872-1944). The other work in my Gallery that looks like his is actually made by Theo van Doesburg (1883-1931):

More in the Gallery as usual, just click on the pics!
